The implant placement procedure is completed in a single session under local anaesthetic. Once the dental implants have integrated with the bone, usually within three to four months, we will attach your new teeth.

Hi, I’m Dr Carl Manhem. I’ve been a qualified dentist for 40 years and an implant specalist for nearly 30! My main clinical interests are implantology, reconstructive surgery and orthognathic surgery (that’s correcting irregularities in jaw alignment). As well as placing implants, I have taught students these skills in Denmark and London. I’m also involved in academic research on implants with regards to the healing processes and biocompatibility of different implant materials.

We understand that many patients prefer to know what to expect at each stage of their treatment. Below is a basic outline of the dental implant placement process. We will confirm that you are a suitable patient for dental implants when you visit either of our North London clinics for your initial consultation. There are some patients for whom dental implants are unsuitable and, if this is the case, we will discuss alternatives with you.
If any decayed or broken teeth need to be removed, we will extract them and allow the gum to heal before placing the dental implants. The actual placement is a short procedure, performed under local anaesthetic.
All dental implants are placed by our experienced implant surgeon, Dr Carl Manhem. Implants consist of hollow titanium placements that are fused to the jawbone, creating a secure anchor for attaching custom-made precision ceramic teeth.
As part of our care package, we’ll make sure that you have all the knowledge and equipment needed to maintain oral health while the implants heal and graft to the bone. This will take a few weeks.
The final stage is ‘restoration’, this is when one of our dentists will create and attach custom-made precision ceramic teeth to the secure implant.
The cost of treatment varies based on the number of implants you require. A single implant is sufficient for one tooth, while a complete arch may necessitate between 4 to 6 implants.
